Jordan broke a 29-year old school record on Saturday to lead the Ducks to their first NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.
Hasay posted a time of 4 minutes and 33.01 seconds, out-kicking Villanova’s Sheila Reid in the 3,000 meters in front of a crowd of nearly 4,500.
It was a great with for both the team and Jordan, Oregon reaching 67 points in front of second placed Texas with 38 points.
Oregon were missing star performer Alexandra Kosinski and Jordan commented that the team were running for her.
‘It was hard for Alex not to come.’ Said Hasay ‘I think she was the most bummed of all of us. It was a crazy, crazy thing. There was nothing we could have done about it. We just had to suck up our game. We all knew that our points were even more important.’
‘We talked about going 1-2-3 like the guys did outdoors.’ Hasay commented, alluding to the 2010 NCAA Championships. ‘Going 1-3-4 is pretty close. I’m still in shock.’
