March 8, 2016 – Hello everyone! I wanted to provide a quick update of my racing and training plans for the next few weeks. We have decided that I will not be competing in the USATF Indoor Championships this week. I would have loved to have competed here in Portland. However, after looking at my overall goals for the summer with the main one being the Rio Olympics, it made more sense to take a short break right after Millrose and now I will start my training this week to prepare for the outdoor season. The next race on my calendar will be the 10k at the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 1.
After coming off of injury in 2015, I’ll admit it hasn’t been the smoothest road. All athletes have to go through these challenges however and as I have said before, I’m only determined to use it as motivation and strength. I’m thankful to have such a great team behind me in the Nike Oregon Project and we are confident that eventually all the pieces will fall into place. Sometimes in running, as in life, it’s a matter of being patient and waiting for the tide to turn. Keep swimming to the surface, find a flotation device (of which I’m thankful to have MANY who support me!), and never give up. Eventually, often when we least expect it, the tide does indeed turn and the sun will rise.
I’m thankful for all the support as I embrace the challenges ahead! I will post updates on my training progress on Twitter and Instagram as always, so be sure to follow me @jordanhasay
